Merry Christmas!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Poem
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
-Christiana Rossetti

Song
This version of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” interlaced with the Israeli national anthem “Hatikvah” is done by the group Selah. Just beautiful.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Random Thoughts #5: Certain Occurrences

Restaurant “secret menu items” 😎

Eggnog. Chocolate. Candy Canes. Cookies. Marshmallows. Christmas goodies are the best πŸ™‚

Cold coffee is just as good as, if not better than, hot coffee.

We were at relatives’ for New Years’ Day, and watched some of the Rose Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl which followed was more exciting, though πŸ˜‰ I found it interesting that this year’s Fiesta Bowl was sponsored by Tostitos πŸ˜†

In the days leading up to Christmas, the prevailing question among my Ks, 1st and 2nd graders was “Is Santa real?” Now, they’re back from break and studying astronomy and outer space because of the Magi, and the big question is “Are aliens real?”

Watched “The Fellowship of the Ring” with my 8-year old brother (his first time actually sitting down and seeing it). His main observations:
β€’”That was close!”
β€’”So sad!”
β€’”This is a cool movie!”

You know the Piano Guys. You know Lindsey Stirling. But do you know Taylor Davis? She is ahh-mazing 😎

Mondays. My least fave day of the week. Weekend is over, and work again begins.

Whatever you’re going through, however hard your days (Mondays or whatever is your hardest) are, remember God is there. Always there.

Random thoughts #4: Christmastime

A Hershey kiss has the. pur-fect. amount of chocolate 😎

So, the kindergarteners were having recess on the playground . They were playing animals and shouting out who they were: “I’m a cheetah!” “I’m a shark!” “I’m a lion!” And then one says, “I’m a human with power!”

We were at the Coffee Bean the other day. I got a “hot vanilla,” finished most of it, got a sample of espresso and put that in, added sugar, half-and-half and a dash of cinnamonβ€”and it turned out pretty good! Kept me fueled through a day at work πŸ˜‰

*happysigh* finished college classes and got time off work. No school + no work = a very relaxed Christmas season πŸ˜€

Oh hey. On Sunday, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning set an NFL record for most number of touchdowns in a season!!! 😎

If you’re in the SoCal area, a very neat place to visit is Trinity Broadcasting Network’s building in Costa Mesa. They have grounds full of beautiful flowers and architecture year-round, but at Christmastime they make it sparkle with thousands of lights! See pics here: http://thisisourfathersworld.wordpress.com/2013/12/24/festive-lighted-verdure/

It’s more exciting to watch football when it’s snowing wherever they’re playing.

Y’know how they say that giving beats getting? It’s true. I’m super excited about the gifts I’m giving my family this year πŸ˜€

And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, β€˜It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
-Acts 20:35

Enjoy the peace and joy of this season, and thank God for sending His Son to Earth.

Merry Christmas!

Here is Michael Crawford’s awesome version of one of my favorite Christmas songs, “Mary Did You Know?”

Merry Christmas!

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. Β (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) Β And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. Β And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) Β To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. Β And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Β And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Β For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Β And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Β And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Β Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. Β And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. Β And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. Β But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Β And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

~ Luke 2:1-20 ~
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east…and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Β And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
