Random thoughts #22: Oscar, kids think, & 7

“I’ll call him Oscar.”
“Oscar? You can’t name a lamb Oscar. You name a lamb Fluffy…or Cottonball…But you don’t name a lamb Oscar.”
-Paws & Tales kids radio show

“Ten days after I turned 8, got my lips stuck in a gate; my friends all laughed. And I just stood there until the fire department came and broke the lock with a crowbar and I had to spend the next 6 weeks in lip rehab where I met this kid named Oscar who got stung by a bee, right on the lips, and we couldn’t even talk to each other until the fifth week cuz both of our lips were so swollen. And when he did start speaking, he just spoke Polish, and I didn’t know but like 3 words in Polish, except now I know 4 – because Oscar taught me the word for lips.”
-Veggietales “I Love My Lips” silly song

Took me the longest time to figure out what Larry was saying in that ^^ monologue πŸ™„

“He’s my pet and his name is Oscar. He’s mine.”
-kindergarten girl, of a fly buzzing around the room.

You don’t want to hear how these giraffe puppets took so much time and hassle to make. You just want to see the cute picture. So here you go. πŸ˜›

Bright teal and cherry red hibiscus make me ridiculously happy. πŸ˜€

Going out of your way to step on and crunch the few dried deciduous leaves = fall in Southern California.

Wintery crafts are the best!

Me to two middle schoolers who were fighting: “It takes 2 to tango.”
One of the middle schoolers: “Yeah, but…but…it takes one to…play video games…”

If coffee is warmed in the microwave for 22 minutes instead of 2, the smell takes over 2 months to go away. πŸ˜›

“I call it, “Victory of Life”!” -kindergartener in a melodramatic voice, of a pattern she’d just decorated her paper with XD

According to a 1st grader, you can “speak Texas.” πŸ˜›

When the Carl’s Jr. root beer tastes like it’s been mixed with sweet tea πŸ˜•

Straightforward kindergartener: “Once I had something go in here [points to arm] that touched my blood to see if I could have eggs or not.”

“A hacker is someone who goes on a computer and makes your technology not work.” -2nd grader

Do you know how hard it is to arrange 7 things in a perfect circle?

Now a half circle or mountain, that’s not hard:

Speaking of 7, and of 7 stars, I really like how the symbol for Aragorn’s kingship is the same as Jesus’. 8)

I came across this verse in my daily Bible reading:

And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. -Revelation 1:16

That’s our Jesus!

Random Thoughts #5: Certain Occurrences

Restaurant “secret menu items” 😎

Eggnog. Chocolate. Candy Canes. Cookies. Marshmallows. Christmas goodies are the best πŸ™‚

Cold coffee is just as good as, if not better than, hot coffee.

We were at relatives’ for New Years’ Day, and watched some of the Rose Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl which followed was more exciting, though πŸ˜‰ I found it interesting that this year’s Fiesta Bowl was sponsored by Tostitos πŸ˜†

In the days leading up to Christmas, the prevailing question among my Ks, 1st and 2nd graders was “Is Santa real?” Now, they’re back from break and studying astronomy and outer space because of the Magi, and the big question is “Are aliens real?”

Watched “The Fellowship of the Ring” with my 8-year old brother (his first time actually sitting down and seeing it). His main observations:
β€’”That was close!”
β€’”So sad!”
β€’”This is a cool movie!”

You know the Piano Guys. You know Lindsey Stirling. But do you know Taylor Davis? She is ahh-mazing 😎

Mondays. My least fave day of the week. Weekend is over, and work again begins.

Whatever you’re going through, however hard your days (Mondays or whatever is your hardest) are, remember God is there. Always there.

Random Thoughts #2: Food, rain, & professors

We watched “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” Now we’re looking at every car, tv, computer and lamp in terms of what it could turn into.

I’m enjoying the cool, foggy, cloudy, rainy weather we’re having in SoCal during this, the second of our 2 seasons: cooler (warmer being the first). But…I miss real Colorado seasons. With snow.

I had 2 Oreos this week. I think that’s more than I’ve had in the past 6 months πŸ˜•

We got rain today! I went out and did a photo shoot when it stopped πŸ˜€

How often do you get told to write something on a fantastic movie for a college assignment? Well, if you take TESC’s Games People Play, at least once! The Movie? “The Princess Bride” πŸ˜€ My professor was praising it as having some of the most and best game theory examples in any movie he’d seen 😎 Now that’s as good an excuse as any to watch it, right? πŸ˜‰

Nachos are the best!

Hot peach tea on a cold rainy evening…bliss.

http://www.dailyedge.ie/ipad-robbery-fail-1151493-Oct2013/ Oh dear. Maybe think twice next time? πŸ˜†

“What did people do before coffee was invented?”

So, I’m watching the daycare kids, and these 1st and 2nd grade girls are playing with paper pretend cameras. “Just take a picture, then delete it.” says one. So a girl “takes” a picture then is standing there looking at the camera. “She doen’t know how to delete.” says another girl, running over to “help” her friend. The tech-savvy kids nowadays… 😯

Nothing beats real melted butter on popcorn πŸ™‚

So thankful for nice college professors. They offset the not-nice ones.

Maybe this post has so many food items because it’s 8:00 PM and I haven’t had dinner yet πŸ˜•

Good night! I leave you with this.
