Dashing through the sky…

Well, guess what was sighted in the sky today? A COMET! That’s right, another one! And I thought that, since the Orionid meteor shower was long over, so was any chance of comet-spotting. Anyways, (at about the same time as last time, 5 PM) I saw it streaming through the sky and did a double take, thinking, “Wait. Really? Again?!” But there was no mistaking it. And this time my mother and sister got to see it too! I wish I had pictures, but, though we did have a cellphone with us, it was out of battery! It did, however, make my day 😀 My mother said, “God blessed you.” I agree. And I’m so grateful. Grateful to God for another glimpse of a rarely-seen part of His awesome creation.

Comet in the Sky!

Well, I and and some of my siblings saw a comet today! I knew there were supposed to be comets this past Sunday, but we didn’t see any then. I’d assumed it was long over, so it was a total surprise when my brother was just talking about something and suddenly yelled, “A comet!” My sister and I said, “Right. It’s probably a plane or something.” We looked and it definitely wasn’t a plane; sure enough, there was a comet.  This was about 5 PM and we were surprised we could see it even though the sun was still out. We watched it stream—not shoot—through the sky until it grew smaller and we continued on our walk. Sorry—no pictures 😦 I was so frustrated we hadn’t brought our camera!!!! But I’m so thankful we got to see it 😀  I’m fascinated by the vastness and beauty of the universe God created, and the comet reminded me of this Psalm:

When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; what is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?

~ Psalm 8:3-4 ~

This comet was part of the Orionid meter shower, which happens annually and is caused by Halley’s Comet. Here are some pictures:
